Windsurfing: Cooden Wind Direction: W Wind Stength: 14-18 knots ish Surf / Sea State: not as flat as perhaps thought Air Temperature: fine Sea Temperature: fine Weather: windurfing weather ! Max Speed: 26.9 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered:
Cooden, cross-shore, picking up all afternoon. Loads of us out, even couple
of tea-baggers. 6.0m-ish weather, sunshine, some nice ramps, not really a
flat water session.
Only one idiot out on 7.0m rig & slalom board, yep, me ! Quality session
as it turned out, up to the point which confirmed it was time to go
home.
One big M/F lump of timber corked up in front of me as came over back of a
wave at 24-26 knots ... totally unavoidable, tried to jump it as only
option but still caught fin on it .... nett result ... followed by sailing
back moderately overpowered with a nice windsurfing hawaii waist harness as
replacement fin .... for the sake of avid waveboard test reader, the board
became very LOW GRIP, yet I still came in 3 beaches upwind of my startpoint
.... very skatey feel, and nice to have no harness with a 7.0m sail in
proper wind
The only real saving grace was that i'd had a good session, in a shorty,
and clocked 26 knots on the gps in less than ideal (ie bit bumpy) speed
conditions before hitting the self destruct button
ps ... anyone finds a Nik Baker Slalom 40cm fin washed up in next few days,
i'd quite like it back. It'll still have the bolts in it as they ripped
right through the fin box
